• Lily Luchesi likes Archibald Lox!

    21 September 2021

As I often say, I appreciate EVERY review that comes in for a book of mine -- the positive reviews obviously put a big smile on my face and are easy to love, but even if they're negative, I respect the time that the reviewer took to read the book, compose their thoughts, and write up a review. The reviews from professional reviewers are obviously a coup, but the reviews from readers on sites like Amazon or Goodreads are just as important -- I'll often check out the reader reviews for a book before deciding to buy it, and sometimes lend more weight to those than to the glowing reviews from the full-time critics.

That said, I do get an extra little shiver of satisfaction whenever I read a review from a fellow author. When it comes to reading, writers are of course no different in their opinions than anybody else -- our views are no more or less valid than any other reader's, regardless of that fact that we happen to be in the business. Still, getting a Thumbs Up from someone who's been through the same processes that I've been through... who's struggled and fought with their writing muses, and been brave enough to put their work out there for everyone to see... yeah, that's a good day at the office when one of those pops up on my timeline.

And if that author's a USA Today Bestselling Author, like Lily Luchesi... that's an EXTRA good day!!! :-) :-) :-)

Lily read Archibald Lox and the Forgotten Crypt (book 4 of my new series) a while back, and posted her review on her site. (She also writes reviews under the name of Kelly Smith Reviews.) In her summation she said it "truly proves that Shan is a master storyteller," and who am I to argue with a fellow pro?!? :-)
